Saturday morning drop-in

  • The emphasis is on the Peruvian Horse, but all breeds are welcome.
  • Arena work from 10:00 to 12:30 will help you to develop control and consistency in gait.
  • Practice pattern work (circles, figure 8s, etc.).
  • Work on obstacles that may be required in a trail class.
  • Not just for show riders, the purpose here is to develop a strong working relationship between horse and handler.
  • Lunch break from 12:30 to 1:30 to give us a chance to socialize and discuss what we've learned.
  • Some guest speakers will be featured to present alternate viewpoints.
  • Join us for a relaxing ride through the fields after lunch.
  • Cost is $25 for drop-ins bringing a horse and $40 if one of ours is available.
  • Contact us for dates.

Groundwork clinics with Tim Johnston

Tim and Dana del Peru in the round pen

  • Tim Johnston demonstrates his method for keeping horses and handlers safe.
  • All horses are started at liberty (without halters or leads) in the round pen.
  • Horses learn to develop self-control and stand quietly through a variety of experiences, including exposure to "scary" circumstances and being saddled.
  • The emphasis is on calmness both horse and handler.
  • The goal is to give the owner the skills to become a firm, fair leader who clearly communicates expectations to a willing equine partner.
  • Tims shares how he accomplishes the positive changes in the horse so that his program can be continued at home.

Boarding

  • All horse fencing is Electro-braid.
  • Paddocks are 40 X 100 and hold 2-3 horses.
  • 4 strand barbed wire and cattle guards on perimeter for safety.
  • Large outdoor arena with wood chip footing.
  • 120 acres to roam around.
  • Monthly rates (billed in advance) are $7.50 per day for shared paddocks and $8.50 per day for private paddocks.
  • Boarders enjoy discounted rates on Saturday morning drop-in and some other events.
